Day 37
"For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is His mercy towards those who fear Him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgression from." Psalm 103:11-12.
All of us have fallen down or "smudged" clean clothes the very beginning of our day. I am notorious for coffee spills when driving (yes I know they have lids now) and having to endure a stain on my shirt all day. One time while flying to Seattle, I spilled coffee all over my tan pants during the first few minutes of the flight. Needless to say, I gathered alot of attention when I had to get up.
Once you've been stained, you can't wait to change into fresh clothes can you? It makes you fell clean and ready to start over. Right, right, where is this going? Putting on the freshness of God can not only change your attitude, but can change other peoples lives by what you are experiencing.
In 1734, a pastor in Northhampton, Massachusettes had grown tired of his "degenerate" town and described it as a "dullness of religion." People were walking the streets into the late hours of the night, drinking, prostituting and practicing "lawlessness." Edwards got on his knees and began to pray for change.
During this time 2 young people died and the town begin seeking answers. During one of Edwards services 6 people gave their hearts to Christ. One of these was a young "night walker who was the greatest company keepers in the whole town" (Edwards nice way of calling her a prostitute).
Beause of her faith and the change in her lifestyle, over 300 people over the next six months received Christ. That's a great story but it doesn't end here. Because of the change in the 300 the story multiplies. Because of the change brought about by 1 man praying, 6 people changing their lives, and then 300 changing their lives, over the next 8 years over 300,000 commited their lives to Christ and one of, if not THE GREATEST REVIVALS took place in America.
WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN OUR SCHOOLS, OUR TOWNS, OUR WORLD AND OUR CHURCHES. PLEASE ASK GOD FOR THE FOLLOWING TODAY:
1. Pray for 1 thing specifically at 1:00 p.m. for 1 minute. Something that you really want to see changed. Commit to pray this for the balance of the 40 days.
2. Pray that God will make you a Godly example for change. Pray that someone specific will change because of what God has done for you.
3. Pray that you will get an opportunity to share your faith. Remember, there are no accidents in who you meet.
4. Pray for Revive. That because of change in the lives of these students we would see homes, schools, relationships and hearts changed.
Father, awaken us like those in New England in the 1700's. We pray that no matter what we are facing, we would give our hearts totally to Daddy and because of our change, others would be changed also.
Blessings,
Jody
