DAY 14
Friends, here is something to remember when you are looking for answers in tough times
Consider this, when the so call “religious people” tried to embarrass Jesus Christ, they asked Him what appeared to a simple but profound question in that day, “what is the greatest commandment?”
Jesus said, "'Love the Lord your God with all your passion and prayer and intelligence.' This is the most important, the first on any list. But there is a second to set alongside it: 'Love others as well as you love yourself.' These two commands are pegs; everything in God's Law and the Prophets hangs from them."
The religious leaders of the first century had over 600 commandments that they attempted to live by. Jesus identified two from Deuteronomy 6:5 and Levtiticus 19:18 that stated if you fulfilled these two commands, a person keeps all the others. He emphasized in a simply put fashion:
1. Love God more today than you did yesterday. It says to give him unconditionally your passion, prayer and intelligence.
2. Then it says do something beyond yourself and love others.
Love is a verb! So give to God what he deserves, which is your best. Then give to someone who is in need. That is what a friend does. Here’s a thought, combine the two!! Give to a Godly cause, your time, or your talent or of course your money.
Tougher economic and social times are not when the battle should be surrendered but rather proactively fought. Unfortunately, these are times when destructive behaviors increase based on the fact that people will “medicate” themselves from the issues. Dig deeper. Dip into the well of love for God. Dig deeper. Dip into the well of helping others. After all, “everything” in God’s eyes hangs from it.
