SIN IN THE MIRROR: A PICTURE OF BROKENNESS

"I waited patiently on the Lord, and He inclined to me and heart my cry. He drew me out of the pit of destruction and out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock and made my steps secure. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God." Psalm 40:1-3

I have been attempting to finish a study by James MacDonald called "Downpour." The study is about the rain of revival that God wants for His children. Personal revival always comes from experiencing the glory of God.

The study has been wonderful in seeing a picture of the glory of God thru the Old Testament Prophets, King David and the Apostle John. The beauty of approaching the throne of God leaves one awestruck. But as MacDonald explains:

"we've looked at God on the throne, a picture of holiness . . . the importance of seeing God in His rightful place, high and lifted up. Only when we see God and His infinite standard of holiness do we begin to open our hearts to the reality of how far short all of us fall."

In other words, we cannot fully understand the glory of God until we deal with the issue of sin in our lives. This is the hard part. We all want to experience God in fresh ways each day. But as the Word of God tells us in so many different scriptures, we must come clean before the Lord before we experience His glory.

We have to get to a point of humbleness and lowness before we can experience the mountaintop of God's holiness. This can be very painful as we deal with junk in our lives. But freedom has always come at a cost.

Blessings,

Jody
